An intense strategy-based gaming experience, Last Front: Europe offers players three modes of game play, as well as the ability to customize accounts and create their own maps.

March 2, 2010 (MMD Newswire) -- Plow Games announces the release of Last Front: Europe, its new game for the iPhone and iPod touch. An intense World War II strategy-based gaming experience, Last Front: Europe features some of the most expansive game play and user content creation tools ever made available to iPhone and iPod touch users. Download Last Front: Europe today and begin the fight for control of Europe. http://www.lastfrontgame.com

"Among other features, Last Front: Europe is unique in that it features user-driven created content using the game's online map editor. This allows the player to design their own content and game play and build a community of players," says Greg Phillips, Partner Plow Games.

Last Front: Europe offers players three modes of game play, in which users can play as the British, Soviets, Germans or Americans. Featuring 16 maps spanning four historic battles of the European theater, including The Battle of Stalingrad and the Battle of the Bulge Last Front: Europe lets players immerse themselves in the conflicts that took place in Europe during World War II.

To play, users create a username that tracks their progress in the game and in the Last Front community at http://www.lastfrontgame.com. Players can customize their accounts as well and earn historical awards, ranks, and honors for their personnel profile based on the nationalities of their accounts. All players start off as a Level 1 recruit, but can reach level 21 by accumulating experience. As a player levels up, units and advantages that change the dynamics of the game unlock.

The full version of Last Front: Europe has three play modes: Campaign, Battle and Online. Campaign Mode progresses the player through the 16 maps of the four regions in which the game is set and allows players to learn the game as they gain rank. Each map features different countries as both attackers and defenders, with equipment unique to each nation.

Battle Mode allows the player to play longer, more challenging games on the campaign maps, doubling the game play of each scenario. Just as in Campaign Mode, Battle Mode also allows players to select a difficulty appropriate to their skill level as well as their rank. Online Mode allows players to play timed matches for score against other players in live games.

A unique feature of Last Front: Europe is the ability to download an almost endless supply of user generated and custom maps to play in Battle Mode. A player can scroll through the maps and download a map by touching it, which will send it to their Battle Mode map library to play later. Users can also enter map codes to find a specific map quickly and easily. In addition, users can utilize tools to create and place terrain, defensive units, obstacles and starting and end points, and can even modify the attackers for a truly custom experience.

Bluewater brings to life the story of HBO's TRUE BLOOD creator Charlaine Harris to comics
press releases - entertainment
Friday, 26 February 2010 11:10

February 25, 2010 (MMD Newswire) --  It's the rare author who achieves superstar status. Stephen King, Anne Rice, Tom Clancy, John Grisham and J.K. Rowling may be household names. But for every one of them, there are hundreds of struggling writers who watch as their masterpieces never make it anywhere near the New York Times' bestseller list.

For most of the more than 20 years that Charlaine Harris has spent writing mysteries, she fit squarely into that later category. She had her fans, but she was nowhere near a household name. Then she created a character called Sookie Stackhouse, and everything changed.

Sookie Stackhouse is now the featured character on HBO's hit southern gothic vampire series True Blood. And Harris, who will release her 10th Sookie Stackhouse book this summer, is finally one of those household names.

This May, Harris will also star in her first comic book, as the subject of Bluewater Productions' latest entry in its popular Female Force line of biographical comics. Harris herself participated in Female Force: Charlaine Harris, granting extensive interviews to writer Kim Sherman. This marks an important first for Bluewater: Harris is the first celebrity to be interviewed for the Female Force series.

"Gathering first-hand information and feeling the strength that Harris exudes, both personally and professionally, immensely contributes to the originality and authenticity of this Female Force book," said writer Sherman.

Nathanlie Ooten provided the interior art for Female Force: Charlaine Harris, while artist Patricio Carbajal provided the cover.

Female Force: Charlaine Harris will trace the writer's career from the publication of the lighthearted Aurora Teargarden mysteries to the phenomenon of her vampire-infused Sookie Stackhouse stories.

This book is an especially appropriate one for Sherman. Earlier, Sherman wrote Bluewater's Fame: Robert Pattison, profiling the actor who stars as the vampire with a conscience in the hit Twilight movies. In profiling Harris, Sherman is again exploring the world of literary vampires.

For Bluewater president Darren G. Davis, the Harris biography provides another chance to introduce new readers to the world of comic books.

"With our Female Force, Fame and Political Power biography comics, we've introduced countless new readers to the joy of sequential storytelling," Davis said. "These comics have proven to be exceptionally popular. We expect Charlaine Harris' story to attract even new readers to the graphic format."

Female Force: Charlaine Harris will retail for $3.99, and will include 32 pages.

"Charlaine Harris is an inspiration to young writers everywhere," Davis added. "Harris never quit on her dreams to become a published writer. And she kept writing until she reached the explosive success that her Sookie Stackhouse books now enjoy. I'm thrilled to present this talented writer's story to the fans who only know Stackhouse from True Blood."

TWILIGHT AUTHOR, STEPHENIE MEYER GETS LAVISH TREATMENT FROM BLUEWATER.
press releases - entertainment
Friday, 26 February 2010 11:10

February 25, 2010 (MMD Newswire) -- Vampires, werewolves and, of course, the people who love them have been very good to writer Stephenie Meyer. The writer, creator of the mega-selling Twilight series of vampire novels, has achieved that rarest of feats for modern authors: She's become a celebrity, a household name.

Meyer's comic biography resonated with fans of the Twilight novels and movies. Bluewater, in fact, sold out of several runs of the comic, making it one of the most successful of the company's hot-selling line of biography comics. That's why, this edition called "Twilight Unbound: The Stephenie Meyer Story", will release a new hard cover version of Meyer's story.

Last year, Meyer also became a comic-book star. Bluewater Productions in November released Female Force: Stephenie Meyer, a graphic biography detailing Meyer's rise from unknown writer to the guiding force behind one of the book industry's top-selling franchises.

This new version will include updates on the success of New Moon, the most recent Twilight film, and a look at Meyer's future plans for Edward and Bella, the romantic leads of her vampire books. The book will also be stuffed with extras, making it a must-buy for Twilight fans.

The collectable version with new features will be the first hard cover for Bluewater retail for $12.99. Written by Ryan Burton with art by David McNeil, the comic is just the latest in Bluewater's popular biography line. This series of biography comics has already highlighted such influential women as Oprah Winfrey, J.K. Rowling, Sarah Palin, Michelle Obama and Hillary Clinton. The series' goal is to examine the lives of these important figures in an objective and balanced manner without resorting to sensationalism.

"The fan reaction to our original release of Female Force: Stephenie Meyer was amazing," said Darren G. Davis, president of Bluewater Productions. "The positive response took even me by surprise. That's why I'm so excited to release this new version of Meyer's story. I hope her fans appreciate the new information and extras we were able to dig up for this edition of the book."

Bluewater's biography comics, which include the Female Force, Political Power and Fame lines, have been credited with bringing new readers to the comics industry. Many of these books have sold out of their initial print runs. Such mainstream media as MTV, Rolling Stone, Time Magazine and People Magazine have run stories on the books.

The book is scheduled for a release in May in time for the "Twilight: Eclipse" film. The book is now available for pre-order on Amazon.com.

Avatar: - Hidden messages in extraordinary film mirror valuable life lessons
press releases - entertainment
Thursday, 25 February 2010 11:10

New manuscript share universal theme with Cameron's 3D masterpiece

Chicago, IL (MMD Newswire) February 24, 2010 - Critically-acclaimed Avatar, written and directed by James Cameron, is a science fiction film set in the year 2154, when humans travel to the life-bearing moon of Pandora for the purpose of mining the precious mineral "unobtanium." To understand the ways of the indigenous Na'vi race, the scientists create Na'vi avatars, hoping to eventually convince them to hand over their land. But as the protagonist eventually manages to become a part of the tribe, he comes to respect their ways and their love for nature, ultimately questioning the actions of his own human race and leading the war against them.

David Hearld's new paperback, Who is Wearing the Pants? is a reminder of the importance of this same underlying principle: respect. Comprised of 15 short and easy to read mini-lessons, readers are inspired to apply this principle in every aspect of life to gain greater insight into themselves and better relate to others. Who is Wearing the Pants? is for people of all ages and backgrounds who want to reach higher levels of respect and happiness. Readers can do this by following Hearld's Pant Principles - practical, fun-to-read techniques that explain how to reach goals and become a doer, not just a dreamer.

Avatar viewers will identify many of Hearld's Pant Principles in the film. One such chapter in Hearld's book focuses on controlling adversaries, which he refers to as "snakes in the grass." By demonstrating courage and eliminating those who intend harm, Hearld explains how to maintain a positive environment free of predators. Avatar revolves around this same premise as the main character rebels against his enemies and earns the respect of the Na'vi people.

Another of Hearld's Pant Principles touches on the concept of influencing others and the importance of establishing a connection to become likeable and earn respect. This common thread is evident in the film as the protagonist strives to earn the Na'vis' trust and eventually become accepted as one of their own. Other principles are also found throughout the film and revolve around the same theme of respect. www.WhoIsWearingThePants.com.

In the quest for personal gain, sometimes we forget what's most important - respecting ourselves and others. The life-changing messages found in both the book and the movie serve as a reminder.

Smash hit "Pants on the Ground" inspires the world to pull them back up!
press releases - entertainment
Thursday, 25 February 2010 11:10

15-step guide reveals how to stop "looking like a fool" and pull those pants up to gain respect.

Chicago, IL (MMD Newswire) February 24, 2010 - General Larry Platt sang the truth on a recent episode of American Idol Season 9. "Pants on the Ground" is sweeping the globe as the newest smash hit, starting a movement to help people of all ages and backgrounds to earn respect and success, and stop "looking like a fool," by way of David Hearld's book: Who is Wearing the Pants?

General Platt embraced civil rights movements as a teenager, working with various committees and conferences and organizing sit-ins in the South. A photo on the Civil Rights Veterans Website shows Platt in 1963 at the age of 16, engaged in song. He and many others had arrived by bus to a church in Savannah, Georgia, to plan a march led by Reverend Hosea Williams and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. to desegregate the city. The march was canceled and they were singing to raise their spirits before returning home.

Who is Wearing the Pants? is a self-development book that has helped change many lives throughout the country, illustrating the same principles that Platt used to earn respect. By "keeping his pants off the ground", Platt became a doer, not just a dreamer, earning the nickname "General" from the Revered Hosea Williams due to his heroic efforts on behalf of the civil rights movement. In fact, the Georgia General Assembly proclaimed Sept. 4, 2001, Larry Platt Day in Atlanta, because of "his great energy and commitment to equality and the protection of the innocent and for his outstanding service to the Atlanta community and the citizens of Georgia."

To this day, Platt dedicates himself to community activism in Atlanta and is well respected by his peers for standing up for people in need. The book, Who is Wearing the Pants? shows how easy it is to help others earn this same respect, featuring 15 short and easy-to-read mini-lessons that inspire readers to take control of their lives, and live happier, longer and richer by keeping their pants off the ground.

MTP Introduces Ryan Colucci to the Pack; Hungry Like the Wolf for a Lycan Serial Killer

LOS ANGELES, CA-- (February 23, 2010) - (PINKSHEETS: MIKP) -- Mike The Pike Productions, Inc. and Oscar Award contender Ryan Colucci, have entered into a partnership agreement securing Colucci as a Co-Producer on the screen adaptation of George R.R. Martin's "The Skin Trade." The werewolf novella, recently optioned by Mike the Pike Productions, is described by Newbauer and Colucci as "'Silence of the Lambs' meets 'The Howling,' that said, the story itself is something one could only expect from the mind of world-renown, award-winning fantasy author, George R.R. Martin."

"We couldn't be happier to have signed Ryan to the team for 'Skin Trade,'"says Mark B. Newbauer, CEO/President of Mike the Pike Productions. "This is quite a coup for MTP and its shareholders as Ryan is more than a producer by title; He's an accomplished producer with solid industry deals and contacts in every aspect of the industry. This includes studios to talent to distribution, many of which are household names like Warner Brothers and Lionsgate."

Colucci, after graduating from USC's prestigious Peter Stark Producing MFA Program in 2004, joined Snoot Entertainment as Producer on the CG-animated feature "Battle for Terra, "which was released on May 1, 2009 from Lionsgate and Roadside Attractions, in both 2D and 3D. The film positioned Colucci as one of the youngest producers to contend for an Oscar Nomination in his category as it was included in a handful of films contending for Oscar Nominations for Animated Feature in this year's upcoming ceremony.

In 2007, Ryan Colucci, along with acclaimed director Mike Newell ("Prince of Persia: Sands of Time," "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire"), teamed up with Warner Brothers Pictures to produce Terry Brooks' "Shannara" fantasy series (twelve books in total). "We feel this accomplishment to be akin to one possible outcome for 'The Skin Trade,' which will be packaged by Mike the Pike Productions in collaboration with Colucci for a dual strategy toward shareholders' best interest execution including studio acquisition and independent financing/production," continues Newbauer.

On the topic of his track record with Werewolves: Colucci, founder of Spoke Lane Entertainment, a feature film and publishing company, is currently in production on the graphic novel "Harbor Moon," a story about a soldier trapped in a town at the center of a battle between werewolves and their hunters, and a dark secret which leaves him with questions as to which side to fight for. The graphic novel is published by Arcana Studio. In the summer of 2008, Ryan sold his script "Lobo" to Stone Village Pictures, with John Stockwell ("Blue Crush," "Turistas") attached to direct. According to Variety Magazine, "Lobo," about a colony of werewolves deep in the jungles of Brazil, will become a potential werewolf trilogy. On the decision to bring Colucci on as a Producer, Newbauer comments, "It was a no-brainer from the get-go. I contacted Ryan initially because I knew he had experience bringing graphic novels to life; around the same time we picked up 'The Skin Trade,' Avatar Press picked up the graphic novel rights. I figured with Ryan's background, he may help us as a consultant to work with Avatar in merging our companies' visions of Martin's work. Instead, I receive an email back from an avid George R.R. Martin fan in Colucci, who also proclaimed that 'Skin Trade' is one of his favorite stories and that he was duly impressed with our acquisition. After discussing and verifying his abilities in bringing powerful elements to the table in terms of CGI/FX, Studio involvement, attaching name talent (screenwriters, director & cast), in addition to our own resources, both parties decided rather quickly to take this project on together full force."

Colucci adds, "Just like I am with the 'Shannara' series, which I'm co-producing with Warner Brothers, I have been a devoted Martin fan my whole life and it is exciting to be a part of bringing one of his books to the screen. Mark and his company, Mike the Pike Productions, have done an amazing job securing the rights and it was important for me to hear that they did not want to spit out a movie for the sake of turning a profit, but actually make a great film, first and foremost, with profits we can all be proud of on many levels at the end of the day. I am confident that with my producing background steeped heavily in visual effects together with Mike the Pike, we can make a gripping film that George R.R. Martin enthusiasts are excited about, while doing his vision for the world of lycanthropes justice."

Newbauer agrees: "Ryan's vision is very much in line with ours on this project with a personality conducive to a partnership that I feel will turn a profitable project with mass appeal. We both see eye to eye on just about every aspect of the story in terms of adapting it to the screen with an original creative vision while maintaining a sense of loyalty for the rich universe of dark, compelling character, tone and lore created in Martin's much praised novella."

Colucci says what drew him specifically to "The Skin Trade," "Is that it is a thrilling Raymond Chandler-esque detective story at heart, but it just happens to involve werewolves. I'm fascinated with the concept that these creatures of myth can exist in our society right under our noses. And master craftsman George R.R. Martin keeps the audience on the edge of their seats with the twists and turns of the case." Newbauer and Ryan both feel 'The Skin Trade' will be a thriving project with franchise/sequel appeal and possibly even a TV series/spinoff.

"THE SKIN TRADE": From the best -selling author of the "Song of Ice and Fire" series comes this chilling story of a werewolf out for more than blood: When a string of grotesque killings begins to strike her small town, private detective Randi Wade becomes suspicious. Undaunted, Randi prods the police as the murders continue, each more brutal than the last. When a close friend suddenly becomes a target, he is forced to reveal a startling secret about himself and Randi is quickly pulled into a dark world within her own town where monsters exist and prey on the living.
